There were no objections raised during a public hearing last week on a proposed increase in Warrenton’s sewer rates. The hearing was held Tuesday, June 7.City officials presented a proposed sewer rate schedule that would increase residents’ fees by 26 cents — from $6.25 to $6.51 — for the first 1,000 gallons of water used. The proposal also would increase the charge for every additional 1,000 gallons by 16 cents, from $4.04 to $4.20.Warrenton Economic Director Terri Thorn said the rate increases are part of repaying bonds issued related to a $15 million system update, passed in April of 2015.“Each year there will be an increase based upon the 20-year projections that were completed at the time the sewer bonds were issued,” she said. Those living in the Warrenton area, but outside the city limits, will see an increase of 80 cents, from $19.90 for the first 1,000 gallons of water to $20.70, and 34 cents for each additional 1,000 gallons. Truesdale residents would see a 41-cent increase, from $10.23 for the first 1,000 gallons to $10.64, and a 14-cent increase for the next 1,000 gallons, from $3.54 to $3.68. Businesses outside of Warrenton city limits, but still in the Warrenton area, will see an increase of 84 cents for the first 1,000, from $20.94 to $21.78, and a 34-cent increase for the next 1,000, from $8.53 to $8.87.Truesdale businesses will see a 44-cent increase, from $10.87 to $11.31, and a 15-cent increase for the next 1,000, from $3.66 to $3.81.
