Record Managing EditorThe city of Warrenton will get an appraisal on property its owns on Pinckney Street as officials work to determine its future use.Aldermen last Tuesday voted 5-0 to award the appraisal bid to Humphrey Appraisal for $800, the lowest of two bids received. The other bid was submitted by Midwest Real Estate Appraisal Services for $1,600. Ward 1 Alderman Karen Casserly was absent.The property is located across from Rebecca Boone Elementary in Truesdale.In August, the city previously planned to use the property as the site for a new pool, dog park and walking trails.However, 39 acres were purchased last month to be developed as a new park. The city paid $285,000 for the new park land located west of the Brune Business Park.The Pinckney Street property was formerly owned by Warrenton’s Industrial Development Authority (IDA) with the intent for it to be developed as a light industrial site. Ownership was transferred to Warrenton in 2014.Property, liability insurances goes up $10,115The city’s property and liability insurance annual premium is increasing by $10,115 over the previous year.The city’s coverage is with Missouri Rural Services with Tri-County Agency serving as its agent. The annual premium is $161,696.According to a memo, the automobile component of the premium increased by $3,708 due to the addition of four new vehicles with coverage that includes physical damage. The largest part of the premium increase is $5,660 and is the general liability component. Of that amount, $3,168 is for cyber liability coverage that the city did not previously have and is now automatically includedThe renewal was approved by a 5-0 vote.Other news• A change order in the amount of $4,211.30 was approved for the Highway 47 sidewalk improvement. The total project cost was $164,205.45. The city received $175,061 in grant funds from MoDOT for the project.• Aldermen approved funding requests totaling $4,600 from the tourism budget. The city will use $4,000 for Hometown Christmas and Dairy Queen received $600 for an interstate attraction sign. The funding was recommended for approval by the tourism commission at its Oct. 30 meeting.• The city will spend $7,769 to relocate the yard waste site to the new property the city purchased off Willow Road adjacent to the wastewater treatment plant. The city had budgeted $7,800 for the work.• A new sidewalk and entrance will be constructed at the Farmers Market pavilion along Walton Street. The total cost is $3,410. The budgeted amount is $3,500.• Sections of sidewalk on Richmond Drive will be removed and replaced in the amount of $12,572. The city had budgeted $12,600 for the project.• A four-wheel drive service truck with a snowplow package will be purchased for $33,845, from Broadway Truck Center. The company holds the state bid. The expenditure came in slightly under the budgeted amount of $34,000.• Additional monitoring equipment for the S.C.A.D.A.  system will be purchased fro $39,309. The equipment will assist in monitoring the lift stations at Dry Fork, the industrial park and Field of Dreams subdivision. The budgeted amount was $45,000.• A request to close West Street from the Warren County Courthouse to Walton Street and Walton Street between South Market and Morgan streets for the Gobble Giveaway on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. was approved.• Two ordinances approving a site plan and conditional use permit for a new senior housing complex at 1010 Hawthorn Village Drive were approved by a 5-0 vote.• It was announced city hall would be closed for a full day on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and on Christmas Day, Dec. 25. In past years, the city’s offices were open for a half day on Christmas Eve.City of Warrenton
