The Warrenton football team held off St. Charles for a 40-27 victory during its season opener at home on Friday. Junior Devin Roberts scored three touchdowns, including two on special teams. The Warriors jumped out to a 21-7 lead, before giving up two uanswered scores in the second quarter. Warrenton led 21-19 at the break. Roberts opened the third quarter with an 82-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Two minutes later junior Austin Black scored the second of his two rushing touchdowns to push the Warriors ahead 34-19. Roberts also returned a punt for a score and hauled in a touchdown reception from junior quarterback Evan Costello. Costello completed 12 of 22 passes for 206 yards, throwing one touchdown and four interceptions in his debut. See Thursday's edition of The Record for the complete game story.
