Warrenton Police to host Citizens Police Academy

The Warrenton Police Department is leading a Citizens Police Academy starting June 9.The deadline to sign up is May 31.The six-week course allows citizens to learn about how the police department works. Topics include criminal and statutory law, traffic law and driving while impaired, patrol operations, criminal investigation, firearms and field training with a ride-along. Graduates typically return to their communities as better-informed citizens, with the knowledge to help improve the conditions and quality of life in their community.Citizens Police Academy will meet 9-11 a.m. Saturdays from June 9 through July 28, at Warrenton City Hall.Class will not meet July 7.Concerned citizens, neighborhood watch or neighborhood association members, club or organization members, college students, potential police applicants, factory workers, independent business people, city and county workers, etc., are welcome.Participants must be at least 18, live, work or attend school in Warren County and be in good standing with the law.
