The Warrenton mayor and board of aldermen have filled all but two appointed seats still left open on the town’s citizens boards, committees and commissions. At the Sept. 6 board of aldermen meeting, Mayor Eric Schleuter presented his recommendations for open spots and asked the board for its approval. His appointments for the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Commission was met with concern by Aldermen Mike Shilharvey, Ward 1, and John Miller, Ward, 3.“Do we have to vote for all of them en mass?” Shilharvey asked. The mayor said yes.“I want to state it for the record it seems like we have a work session on everything else we do. I thought we ought to have a work session on this to talk about who was going to get appointed and if we had recommendations,” Shilharvey said.“I think there should have been more transparency among us,” he added. “For the most part I agree with everyone on there. I have a couple of questions on some of them.”Miller said he was not informed and felt left out. He said he thought there was a lack of communication. The mayor said a request for recommendations went out and people had a chance to respond.Shilharvey said he brought in a list and was told it was too late, the selection had already been made, and then he said he would leave it at that.“You called for a vote, so let’s vote,” he said. All six aldermen voted yes to the following appointments to the TIF Commission: Cheryl Dyer and Greg Costello, four-year term; Damian Frederick and Beth Kendall, three-year term; and Clifton Woolf and Phil Tallo, two-year term.Other appointments approved are as follows: Laura Schneider and Lyndsay DeGraaf, park board, three-year term; Gary Miller, park board, to fill the unexpired term for Elmer Klump; and Michael Cooper, planning and zoning commission, to fill the unexpired term for Richy Kohler. The mayor said the tourism board still has two open spots. All other open seats have been filled.Warrenton
