Warren County authorities have issued a warrant for the arrest of a man accused of shooting at a vehicle in Warrenton in November.
Travis L. Lenzing, 41, of Warrenton, is charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, discharging a firearm into a vehicle and unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to a Warrenton Police report, the shooting took place Nov. 13 in front of a home on the 300 block of McKinley Avenue. When officers arrived, the person whose vehicle was shot at reportedly said he arrived to find Lenzing standing in the front yard.
When the victim asked why Lenzing was there, Lenzing allegedly produced a hand gun and fired one shot at the vehicle. Police said the bullet passed through the rear driver side door and became lodged in the vehicle’s center console.
Court records show Lenzing has prior convictions for felony drug offenses. At the time of the shooting, Lenzing was free on bond for a drug delivery charge. His bond was revoked when these latest charges were filed.
Warrenton police said Lenzing is also a person of interest in a violent crime investigation in O’Fallon.
