A Warrenton-area man was killed in a crash on Tuesday that also injured a woman from Hawk Point.
Jonothan R. Schneider, 51, was killed when his vehicle collided with another that was driving the opposite direction on Highway 47 south of Warrenton, according to a Missouri Highway Patrol crash report. The patrol reports that Schneider was driving too fast for the winter road conditions at around 8 p.m. when the crash occurred. His 1997 Ford Explorer hit a patch of ice, slid into the opposite lane, and was struck on the passenger side by a GMC Denali pickup truck.
Schneider's vehicle traveled off the road and overturned, the highway patrol said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance personnel. The highway patrol said Schneider was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the pickup truck, Debra C. Lawrence, 33, of Hawk Point, was hospitalized with serious injuries, the highway patrol said. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
