Warrenton man killed in accident on I-70

An accident on Interstate 70 near mile marker 203 Monday afternoon resulted in the death of a 63-year-old Warrenton man.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol traffic crash report, a 63-year-old Warrenton man was traveling eastbound on the left shoulder of I-70 on a 2022 NR-7 electric bicycle. A 2018 Freightliner Cascadia driven by a 59-year-old-man from Pelzer, S.C. was traveling in the right lane of traffic when the bicyclist attempted to cross both lanes of traffic and entered the path of the Freightliner. The truck struck the bicyclist then ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a speed limit sign. The bicyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene by Warren County Ambulance District personnel at 4:54 p.m.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of the occupants involved in injury crashes.
