A Warrenton man is accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl.

Arthur N. Lewis Jr., 29, is charged with first-degree statutory sodomy for the incident that allegedly occurred in June 2016. The child’s parents contacted Warrenton police the day after the incident.

The girl told investigators that while at Lewis’ residence on Johannaber Street, Lewis covered her eyes and placed food items in her mouth, before placing “his thing” into her mouth.

A warrant was issued for Lewis’ arrest this month. He was taken into custody Nov. 3, according to online court records. He is being held at the Warren County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 cash-only bond. He has an arraignment set for Nov. 15 at the Warren County Circuit Court.

The charge of first-degree statutory sodomy comes with a minimum prison sentence of 10 years if the victim is less than 12 years old. The maximum sentence Lewis could face is life imprisonment, if he is convicted.

Lewis has prior misdemeanor convictions for sexual misconduct from 2006, when he was still in high school, and from 2007. He also has misdemeanor assault convictions from 2006 and 2016.
