Cortez Adams, 23, of Warrenton, was charged with second-degree domestic assault in connection to an incident that took place on Aug. 19 in Warren County.
According to the probable cause statement filed by the Warrenton Police Department, officers were dispatched for a physical domestic disturbance at Dyer Park on the evening of Aug. 19.
Adams and the victim had gone for a walk when an argument ensued, eventually leading to Adams striking the victim multiple times in the head, according to the probable cause statement.
The victim then fell to the ground and stated Adams got on top of her and began to choke her, according to the probable cause statement.
During the altercation, the victim was able to call 911, and record some of the incident including Adams “quickly approaching (her) and striking her two times with his hand in (her) head region,” according to the probable cause statement.
The victim complained of pain in her jaw but did not display any visible injuries. Adams claimed the victim had attempted to slap him multiple times during the argument before he pushed her to the ground. He claimed he did not strike the victim.
A warrant was issued for his arrest and he is to be held without bond.
