Paul Bruning III, 33, of Warrenton, was charged with second-degree domestic assault stemming from a July 28 incident.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Warren County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Andrew Whittington, he responded to a residence in Warren County following a report of a woman knocking on the door of residence asking them to call law enforcement.
The victim reported Bruning had slapped her across the face and choked her until she could not breathe during a physical altercation. She also said she had scratched Bruning in an attempt to defend herself while she tried to flee.
Whittington made contact with Bruning, who agreed with the report.
Both the victim and Bruning had injuries consistent with the story. There was also a clear body-sized disturbance in the carpet of the residence as well as blood that Bruning agreed belonged to the victim.
A warrant was served for Bruning’s arrest and he is to be held without bond.
