Stevens Long, 51, of Warrenton was charged with failure to register as a sex offender and possession of a controlled substance, both felonies, on July 15.
Long was convicted of second-degree statutory rape in Warren County in 2013 and last registered in Lincoln County in June.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Warren County Sheriff’s Department Detective Kurt Hey, officers executed a search warrant on a property in Wright City where Long was currently squatting. Hey said court documents had been filed by the property owner in March attempting to remove Long from the property.
During the search, officers found a pipe and a subsequent field test confirmed the presence of methamphetamine.
Long also has several other prior convictions including the unlawful use of a weapon in 2010 in Lincoln County, and second-degree domestic assault and felony harassment in 2013 in Warren County.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest and he is to be held without bond.
