Ramiro Valenzuela, 37, of Warrenton, was charged with the theft of a motor vehicle, a felony, in Warren County stemming from an incident on May 11.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Warren County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Aaron Levinson, the victim reported he had Valenzuela working on his Jeep Grand Cherokee to repair some mechanical problems.
On May 9, the victim noticed his vehicle was no longer at Valenzuela’s residence and Valenzuela told him he had towed it to a repair shop for further work.
According to the probable cause statement, Valenzuela sold the vehicle for $200 on May 9 and it was subsequently scrapped and shredded.
The victim stated the vehicle’s value was roughly $1,500 and produced the title proving he was the owner. He also stated he had not given Valenzuela permission to tow or sell the vehicle.
A bill of sale from Valenzuela was also obtained as evidence, according to the probable cause statement.
Valenzuela has a court appearance scheduled for Aug. 26.
