Posted

Robert Carnes, 46, of Warrenton, was charged with second-degree burglary and stealing of $750 or more, both felonies, from a storage unit in Warrenton.

The victim reported Carnes stole roughly 23 items from the storage unit worth $4,420.

According to the probable cause statement, Warrenton Police Officer Alek Stephenson contacted management with the storage facility and reviewed security footage of the evening.

The footage showed a vehicle approaching the facility in the late evening of March 16 where an individual punched in the code for the facility before pulling up to the victim’s open storage unit.

According to the probable cause statement, the suspect, Carnes, walked into the unit and began loading items into his vehicle.

Later that evening, Carnes returned to the storage unit with an additional unnamed suspect and removed more items from the unit, according to the probable cause statement.

Stephenson was able to obtain the license plate on the vehicle from the security footage and identified Carnes as the registered owner, who also matched the description of the individual in the security footage.

A warrant was issued for his arrest and he is to be held on a $20,000 cash bond.
