Prosecutors have charged a Warrenton man who allegedly exploited over $33,000 from an elderly resident.
Nicholas S. Rogers, 41, was charged Aug. 6 with financial exploitation of an elderly person, a Class B felony.
Warrenton police began investigating Rogers in January after being alerted to the potential exploitation of an elderly person, according to court documents. Police said the elderly victim identified numerous bank transactions and ATM withdrawals from their account that had not been authorized.
Over $33,000 in illicit transactions were conducted just in 2019, police said.
The elderly victim also alleged that Rogers used physical intimidation to gain their cooperation to write checks and use a debit card from the victim’s account, police said.
