Warrenton police officers arrested a suspect over the weekend who they believe fired a gun while committing an armed robbery.
Terrance J. Pherigo, 21, of Warrenton, was arrested Saturday, Dec. 7, and charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and armed criminal action.
Warrenton officers were dispatched to the 300 block of McKinley Avenue Saturday after a report of gunfire, according to an arrest report. A witness told officers a black male with dreadlocks entered a home, followed by the sound of yelling. A short time later, he allegedly came out again and fired a handgun at the house before driving away in a maroon vehicle.
Officers spoke to the victims, who told them that the suspect was Pherigo. They alleged to police that Pherigo held a gun to one resident’s head while demanding money. At one point Pherigo allegedly discharged the firearm to the side of the victim.
Pherigo allegedly took $30 in cash before another resident chased him out of the house, police said. The resident confirmed to police that Pherigo shot the gun three more times at the house as he left.
Using the description of the vehicle Pherigo left in, officers were able to locate him and take him into custody.
If convicted of the crimes, Pherigo could be facing a minimum of 13 years in prison.
Pherigo is currently serving a five-year probation for a 2018 conviction for first-degree burglary and stealing. He also was free on bond pending trial for a sexual assault charge.
In the current case, Pherigo was arrested with no bond allowed until he is seen by a judge. A bond hearing was scheduled for Dec. 10 in Warren County Circuit Court.
