A Warrenton man was arrested Sunday by the Missouri State Highway Patrol after allegedly walking away from where he crashed a Jeep.
Wesley J. Mallicoat, 35, was taken to Warren County Jail Oct. 7 under accusations of driving with a revoked license and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash, according to the highway patrol. A patrol report states Mallicoat was also wanted for misdemeanor charges from the Warren County Sheriff’s Department and Warrenton Police Department.
Mallicoat was driving a 2014 Jeep Patriot on Sunnyside Road toward Highway U at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a preliminary patrol report. Mallicoat reportedly failed to negotiate a curve in the road, sliding off the left side. The Jeep struck a tree and a mailbox, the highway patrol said.
Mallicoat then allegedly left the crash site on foot. After a trooper located Mallicoat, he was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis for treatment of minor injuries. He was put under arrest at 10 p.m.
