The Scenic Regional Library in Warrenton will reopen 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, in its new form.The library, located at 912 S. Highway 47 in Warrenton, was expanded from 9,000 square feet to 12,000 square feet. The renovations started a few months ago. The library was closed during August and September for the major construction work.The improved space has larger public meeting and programming spaces, a fireplace and self-check system. It has teen and children’s areas; teen gaming area with an Xbox One; children’s activities, including a Lego table, magnet walls and 55-inch touch-screen tablet; drive-up book drop; a children’s patio with a shade structure and outdoor seating; two study rooms; an adult seating area with a fireplace; and other features.Parking was increased from 45 to 82 spaces.The original building was constructed in 2001. A ceremony for the bigger, better library is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will have a short dedication ceremony at 11:30 a.m., which will conclude with a ribbon cutting with the Warrenton Chamber of Commerce.Guest speakers at the dedication ceremony will include Scenic Regional Library Board of Trustees President John Barry.There will be hot dogs, popcorn, chips and drinks, air brush tattoos, carnival games, a bounce house and a balloon artist.Mike Thomas, host of “Livewire” on KTUI, will broadcast live, as well as provide music.Scenic Regional Library has nine branches located in Hermann, Owensville, St. Clair, Union, Wright City, Warrenton, Pacific, Sullivan and New Haven.Scenic Regional Library Wright City, 60 Wildcat Drive, opened earlier this year.Anyone living in the library district can obtain a free Scenic Regional Library card by visiting a branch and presenting a photo ID.The Warrenton Branch will be open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
