Warrenton H.S. grad interning with Disney

Ariana Camarena, a 2022 graduate of Warrenton High School, will be heading off to Florida in January to embark on an internship with Disney. She has immersed herself in music and theater since she was young and hopes that a semester at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando will give her opportunities to end up on the stage once more.

Camarena applied for the Disney College Program internship after visiting Disney World with her high school choir. The students attended workshops where Camarena auditioned, winning the solo part for Mrs. Potts in “Beauty and the Beast.”

For the first six months in Florida, Camarena will be employed in Disney’s Magic Kingdom Fantasy Land.

“I start out as an employee,” she said. “It’s hard work and long hours. After six months I’m hoping to extend or go full-time with Disney.”

While she was a student at Warrenton High School, Camarena earned awards for Best Supporting Actress as a junior and Actress of the Year during her senior year. She was cast for “Games Afoot,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “The Sound of Music” and other productions.

“Music theater is my escape,” she said. “My theater troupe was my home away from home. Both singing and theater built my confidence. That is where I made most of my friends.”

Camarena attended St. Charles Community College during the fall semester of 2022. She plans to continue her studies there, taking virtual classes while she is in Florida.

Although she calls Missouri her home, she is excited to move to Florida and enjoy the balmy weather there. She will begin her first workshop, called Traditions, at Disney beginning Jan. 9.

“She’s always wanted to make her mark and do it her way,” said mom Trish Taff. “She will be the one that will transition easiest to the move away from home and succeed.”

The Disney College Program offers on-the-job experience and unique networking with professionals. Students from all over the world participate in the program. Its learning opportunities include a variety of classes in resume building, interviewing, guest services, teamwork and effective communication.

Camarena is the daughter of Trish and Jason Taff of Warrenton, and David Camarena.
