The Warrenton football team fell 24-14 in a conference matchup to Holt on Oct. 3. The Warriors drop down to a 4-2 overall and a 2-1 conference record.
The first quarter was a defensive battle between both teams as Warrenton came up with a huge blocked field goal.
In the second, the Warriors’ offense got to work quickly after Christian Blondin connected with Brody Reel for a 39-yard touchdown reception. Jake Kinney made his return by adding on the extra point.
In the next drive, Warrenton’s Billy Speiser added on a sack.
Then, Blondin and Reel connected again to take a 14-0 lead.
Holt responded quickly with a 18-yard touchdown.
As the clock dwindled down for halftime, the Indians punched one more in to tie it 14-14.
Both defenses held on in the third quarter keeping the score 14-14. Warrenton’s Jordan Lopez came up big with a pass breakup on fourth down.
In the fourth quarter, Holt broke through with a 33-yard receiving touchdown and a 16-yard field goal to win the game 24-14.
Warrenton will face St. Charles next Friday at home. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m.
