The Warrenton Warriors carried a lead into the sixth inning before faltering late in their loss to St. Charles West Wednesday.
Warrenton (10-11, 7-3 GAC North) fell to St. Charles West 2-1 Wednesday. With the loss, Winfield earned the outright GAC North title. Warrenton would have earned a share of the conference title with a win Wednesday.
Warrenton jumped out to an early lead after Ben Peth scored on a wild pitch in the second inning. Warrenton maintained the 1-0 lead until the sixth inning when St. Charles West scored a pair of runs to take a 2-1 lead.
With two outs in the seventh inning, Warrenton mounted a two-out rally. With two runners on and two outs, Caleb Clark grounded out to shortstop for the final out of the game.
