It’s been quite a week for the Warrenton boys’ volleyball team.
The Warriors – a team that won five games all of last season – won its fourth straight in defeating Fort Zumwalt East in four sets on Thursday at home.
After dropping the first set 21-19, Warrenton went on to win the next three – 26-24, 33-31 and 25-17.
The team’s play has Coach Jake Brown feeling excited not only about what the team has accomplished but also about what it can accomplish in the coming days.
“We really battled hard and have been buying into hustling and getting in a more athletic stance,” Brown said. “We are hitting on all cylinders right now, and it's great to see early in the season.”
The duo of Teegan Williams (15 kills) and Lucas Payne (12 kills) once again led the way for the Warriors (4-3). Williams’ average of 4.08 kills per set ranks him ninth in the area.
Also playing key roles were Matthew Faubion (33 assists) and Kaleb Lauck (three service aces, one block). Over the past four games, Faubion has amassed 136 assists. His 172 assists this season are the 12th best in the area.
Warrenton puts its win streak on the line tonight when the Warriors play host to the Battle/Father Tolton co-op at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
