The Warrenton boys basketball team drilled eight three-pointers and earned its first win of the season on the road at St. Clair last Friday night.
Joe Goldsmith led the way, making four of eight attempts from long range for a team-best 17 points in the 49-48 win. Joseph Evans also reached double figures with 10 points and Troy Anderson made two treys and finished with eight points.
The Warriors trailed 11-10 after the opening quarter and led 21-18 at halftime. The game featured eight lead changes.
Warrenton will host Winfield this Friday for Senior Night at 7 p.m.
The Warrenton girls basketball team was scheduled to face Moberly Friday in the third-place game of its own Winter Shootout but the game was postponed due to inclement weather.
The contest has been rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 3.
The Warriors opened the tourney with a 53-26 win over Liberty Christian last Monday. In the semifinals on Wednesday, they were outscored in every quarter and fell 59-27 to Francis Howell North.
Warrenton is back home this Friday for Senior Night against Winfeild at 5:30 p.m.
