The Warrenton Warriors boys and girls cross country team competed at the Fleet Feet Classic cross country meet Aug. 30 at Parkway Central.

The varsity girls team was led by senior Camryn Petersmeyer with a 30th place finish covering the two-mile course in 14:43. She was followed by two freshmen, Malia Hopper and Alexis Ruff. Hopper covered the course in 15:17 (36th) and Ruff in 15:45 (43rd). Ashlynn Reeves and Taryn Sharp completed the course in 18:24 (54th) and 19:44 (56th). The girls team finished sixth in the team scoring.

In the junior varsity race, senior Abby Palmer completed the course in 21:59 to finish 122nd.

On the boys side, senior Phillip Kackley took an early lead covering the first mile in about 4:58. Kackley was able to finish the two-mile course in 10:36 for a fifth-place finish. Senior Bryan Guerrero, who ran his first cross country race of his career, placed 18th in a time of 11:45. Juniors Jacob Beckemeyer and Noah Cline finished in 12:11 (27th) and 12:36 (39th). Two freshmen, Matthew Craven and Nicholas Gibson, ran their first high school race with Craven running a 13:00 (47th) and Gibson in 13:32 (56th). The boys team placed fifth as a team.

Then on Friday, the Warriors came back and ran at the Fort Zumwalt North Twilight meet held at the SLYSA Sports Complex for the first 5K race of the season.

Once again, Petersmeyer led the Lady Warriors covering the course in 23:04 and placing 86th. Petersmeyer ran her third fastest time ever and is off to a great start to the season. Not too far behind was freshmen Alexis Ruff. She ran her first high school 5k race in 23:56 to place 102nd.

Briana Grooms placed 112th with a time of 25:12, Malia Hopper placed 113th in 25:22, Ashlynn Reeves placed 123rd in 28:01 and Taryn Sharp placed 128th in 30:35.

The varsity girls team placed 17th overall.

In the JV girls race, Jadyn Hopper ran the 5k course in 29:57 to place 175th and Abby Palmer completed the course in 31:37 to place 190th.

On the boys side, senior Wyatt Claiborne ran his first race of the season covering the course with a time of 16:47. This was good enough for a 25th place finish and a PR by 18 seconds. Guerrero ran his fist 5k race and placed 90th with a time of 18:41. Craven and Gibson finished in 19:41 (121st) and 21:19 (149th).

The boys team finished 17th.
