The Warrenton boys track team finished second at the GAC North meet on Friday at Liberty High School.The Warriors battled St. Charles, which separated itself by over 100 points.“I knew it was going to be a very tough conference meet,” said Coach Steve McDowell. “I was pleased with our performance on Friday, though.”Warrenton had two conference champions.Senior Caleb Hodgson won the pole vault by clearing 12 feet, 6 inches.“He continues to do a fantastic job and has been very close to breaking past that 13-foot mark,” said McDowell.Senior Jared Kilpack placed third in the pole vault with a height of 12 feet.First-year track competitor Braydan Chmiel, a junior, finished first in the high jump by clearing 5 feet, 6 inches.Senior Dane Huck placed second in the event at 5 feet, 4 inches.Senior Jordon Washington was edged out in the 100-meter, taking second place in 11.38 seconds. He also finished third in the 200-meter race with a 23.31-second finish.He joined the 400-meter relay team, along with Dane Huck, Hodgson and Chmiel, for a second-place finish in 45.63 seconds.Also claiming considerable points was junior Jacob Crump, who finished second in the 300-meter hurdles at 42.16 seconds and third in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.3 seconds.Crump joined the 1600-meter relay team, including Dylan Chandler, Brian Sanders and Huck, for a second-place finish, running in 3:38.WARRIORS FINISH SECONDDerrick Forsythe photo.
