A 7-year-old Warrenton boy was seriously injured Thursday, Oct. 15, when a driver struck him while he was riding an electric scooter, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 6:57 p.m. in the area of Highway U and Garnet Court when the boy attempted to cross the road to the south on a Navee electric scooter, according to the preliminary highway patrol crash report.

He was struck by a 2019 Honda Civic, traveling southbound, driven by a 65-year-old Warrenton woman, according to the report.

Garnet Court is a cul-de-sac that does not actually touch Highway U, but it connects to Sapphire Court, which does. MSHP Sgt. Dallas Thompson clarified that the boy was struck when he attempted to cross Highway U in the area of the highway’s intersection with Sapphire Court.

The boy was transported by Warren County Ambulance District personnel to St. Louis Children's Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Civic was uninjured, according to the crash report.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of the occupants involved in injury crashes.
