Record Managing EditorA man who robbed a Warrenton bank at gunpoint was sentenced to 25 years in prison last month.Associate Judge Kelly Broniec sentenced Ronald J. Wright, 43, to 20 years on a first-degree robbery charge and five years on the armed criminal action charge. She ordered both sentences to run consecutively.In September, an Audrain County jury found Wright guilty of both felony charges. The trial was moved after a change of venue was granted in the case.A third felony charge for resisting arrest is pending. He was arrested Sept. 25, 2015, following a short foot pursuit in Wright City.Wright robbed the Jonesburg State Bank branch, located at 508 N. Highway 47 in Warrenton, on Sept. 8, 2014.Police said Wright was wearing a mask when he entered the bank and walked directly to a teller where he displayed a semi-automatic handgun. He demanded money and the teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash.Wright fled the scene in a pewter-colored GMC Sonoma pickup with a long bed that was parked in an alley behind the bank, police said. The truck had a sticker of a skull and crossbones located in the back window. That distinctive sticker helped police identify Wright as a suspect. The Record learned during the investigation that Wright City police had pulled over a truck matching the one used by Wright a couple of weeks prior to the bank heist.According to the probable cause statement, a person matching the description of Wright was seen getting into a truck parked behind the bank immediately after the robbery. Minutes later, the suspect was wearing a black tank top and was spotted by police running from the pickup. The shirt was later found in Wright’s residence by police.Wright used to live in the Liberty Gardens apartment complex in Wright City. He formerly lived in the 1900 block of Golden Vicary in Warrenton, according to court documents.Ronald J. Wright
