Warrenton award bids for sidewalk, street and water line repairs

Record Managing EditorWarrenton aldermen have approved $272,561.30 worth of street and water line projects.Aldermen, at the last meeting Dec. 16, voted unanimously to award bids for four projects. The city had budgeted $297,405 for the four projects.The upcoming work includes a new sidewalk on a stretch of Pinckney Street, multiple street repairs and a water line replacement on Cherry Street.The sidewalk will be constructed on Pinckney Street between the Warrenton High School entrance and Warrior Avenue. The bid was awarded to T.S. Banze Construction for $52,689.30, the lowest of seven bids received. The city had $63,105 remaining in the budget for the work.T.S. Banze also was awarded the bid for concrete street repairs for $89,530, the lowest of five bids. The streets that will be repaired include Isabella Drive, Donna Maria Drive, Tomahawk Lane and Sundance Drive.The board awarded a bid for milling and paving work to Mid River Asphalt for $112,000. The Troy company had the lowest of six bids. The work will be on Columbus Circle, South Market Street and Westbrook.A fourth bid was awarded to HD Waterworks, of O’Fallon, for $7,861 for parts related to the water line project on Cherry Street. The estimated cost to replace the line is $10,481.Board approves multiple appointmentsAldermen also unanimously approved multiple appointments to various city boards.They appointments included:Board of Adjustment (five-year term) — John Deutch.Building Board (two-year terms) — Jon Luetkemeyer and Curt Alger.Planning and Zoning (four-year terms) — Ron Dickey, Richy Kohler and Teresa Scott.Tourism Commission (three-year term) — Tammy Miller.All members previously served on the boards with the exception of Alger.In other news• The board approved a revised uniform policy to include permanent part-time employees. The policy was passed by a 4-0 vote.• The city had 575 people register for the free electronic giveaway held during Hometown Christmas on Dec. 5. The city raffled 125 electronic items valued between $20 and $400.• Brad Busekrus, grounds and maintenance director, recently passed an exam to become certified as a National Recreation and Park Association playground safety inspector.• Bobby Roberts was hired as a full-time police officer. He began work Dec. 29 and will be paid $17.23 an hour. The hiring was unanimously approved by the board.• The board approved a request for out-of-state travel for training for Detective Weber.City of Warrenton
