The Warrenton Board of Aldermen approved the annexation of 43.35 acres on Pinckney Street for the purpose of building a new subdivision in the city during its April 14 meeting. The subdivision will be built by T.R. Hughes Homes. There is currently no water and sewer to the proposed site.
The board voted unanimously 6-0 to approve the annexation.
The board also voted unanimously to approve amendments to the city’s municipal code relating to the municipal court. According to City Manager Brandie Walters, the amendment involves two specific changes. The first was recommended by the Office of State Courts Administrator that the city remove any reference to two court divisions. Walters said that the city did originally have two court divisions but only has one now. The other change was suggested by the city’s attorney, as the code as written says that the city attorney serves as the city prosecutor, but Walters noted that the city prosecutor is now separate from the city attorney.
The board also voted unanimously to approve a three-way stop sign at the intersection of Frick Avenue and Louis Street.
In other matters the board listened to a request from Mike Hutcherson to restripe Veteran’s Memorial Parkway from Highway 47 west to the roundabout. Hutcherson noted that pursuant to the city’s agreement with the Missouri Department of Transportation the city is responsible for maintenance. Hutcherson said the luminescence of the lines on the roadway is not visible at night and creates a safety issue for the city and drivers.
Walters said the roadway was scheduled for repairs in 2027 and striping is planned to be done at that time. Alderman Christine Wait asked if there was something that could be done temporarily to resolve the issue. Walters said she could look into it but work would need to be contracted out to perform the striping.
