The Warrenton Board of Aldermen approved an agreement with the Missouri Department of Transportation for enhancements to the Highway 47 bridge over Interstate 70.
According to City Administrator Brandie Walters the city budgeted $185,000 for the project, which would include fencing on both sides of the bridge, lightpost, and Warrenton lettering on both sides of the bridge. According to Walters, the agreement would require MoDOT to install all the improvements and handle maintenance. The actual cost of the project is $183,283, just under budget. The board approved the agreement by a 5-0 vote, as Alderman Roger Romaker was not present at the June 2 meeting.
The board also unanimously approved an ordinance to execute an agreement with Gonzalez Companies LLC for work on the Warrenton Wastewater Treatment Plant construction in an amount not to exceed $295,000. Public Works Director Guy Gevers said that Gonzales Companies completed the first phase of the project and this new agreement will cover the second phase of the project.
The board also approved an ordinance to authorize the execution of a design/construction contract with Byrne & Jones Construction for phase 3 of the Booneslick Road sidewalk replacement project in the amount of $733,967. Gevers said the project will include the front of city hall, west side of South West Street and the east side of South Market Street. The budgeted amount was $757,000. Gevers said the work will not be done until after Warrenton’s Fall Festival, which will be held Saturday, Sept. 19.
