Record Managing EditorThe city of Warrenton will spend an additional $19,400 on a new pavilion that will be constructed at the athletic complex.Aldermen, at their Feb. 17 meeting, approved the expenditure by a 6-0 vote. The city had originally budgeted $55,000 for the pavilion that would have two bathroom stalls for both men and women. The new project approved will double the number of stalls in each bathroom and allow a concession stand to be built, raising the estimated cost to $74,400.City officials said the pavilion will help serve visitors to the athletic complex and is needed with the influx of tournaments that have been scheduled for this year.“With the Gametime taking over and the way it’s been taking off, we thought instead of pulling a trailer, we might need it for Khoury (Park) and use it over there,” said Brad Busekrus, city maintenance and grounds director. “We could add this and have extra stalls with what is being generated out there. We have no restroom facility over there. We are using port-a-potties.”The new pavilion will be constructed on the east side of the complex property, south of the Lot C parking area.Busekrus told the board he hopes the pavilion is ready for this year’s athletic leagues.Board approves tourism funding requestAlso at the Feb. 17 meeting, aldermen voted 6-0 to approve a $9,900 in funds requested from Tournament Sports Management (TSM) for advertising.
