Record Managing EditorIt will cost Warrenton $90,000 to have the city’s comprehensive plan updated.Aldermen are expected to finalize the contract with Vireo to proceed with the project at the next meeting scheduled for Jan. 13. That meeting was rescheduled from Jan. 5.At the last board meeting Dec. 16, aldermen voted 6-0 to accept the proposal from Vireo. The Kansas City-based firm was hired as the city’s master plan consultant.A comprehensive plan is a tool used to set community goals and to handle future growth and development.Warrenton has allocated $70,000 in this year’s budget and will need to set aside more funds for the comprehensive plan when the next fiscal year begins July 1.Terri Thorn, director of operations/finance officer, also said the city would need to budget another $10,000 to cover other costs the city is responsible for, such as holding public meetings and the printing of documents.City may replace industrial park signThe city also is considering replacing the sign located at the entrance of the Warrenton Area Industrial Park.The city owns a small parcel of land where the sign is located at the intersection of Highway M and South Spoede Lane.Two options that have been presented from Ziglin Signs, of Washington, cost $5,452.09 and $7,862.02.Aldermen decided to postpone a decision until contacting business owners in the industrial park to see if there was any interest in sharing the expense.City of Warrenton
