A Warren County woman is facing felony charges after allegedly stealing a tractor.
Megan Meyer, or rural Warrenton, was charged Tuesday, Aug. 4, with stealing $25,000 or more and first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Frisella Tree Farm’s property in Warren County around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, in response to a report of a stolen 2022 Kubota L3301D tractor. The company owner valued the tractor at approximately $25,000, according to a probable cause statement.
During the investigation, a witness reported observing Meyer operating the tractor at the intersection of Joerling Lane and Paul Road at approximately 2:39 p.m. The witness, who was previously familiar with Meyer, positively identified her as the operator of the tractor.
The caretaker of Frisella Tree Farm, who was also previously familiar with Meyer, also identified her as the person driving the tractor. The witness contacted the caretaker, who traveled to the tractor’s last known location, where he found Meyer allegedly driving it.
He followed Meyer to the intersection of Brandt Road and Highway T, where he confronted her and forced her to stop, resulting in the recovery of the tractor.
A deputy investigating the case also obtained surveillance footage from Centerfield's Convenience Store, which showed a woman matching Meyer’s description driving the tractor south of Highway T shortly before 5 p.m.
Meyer, born in 1994, is being held without bond at the Warren County Jail.
