Warren County R-III School District is hosting a shoe drive now through Jan. 7 to raise money for Care to Learn.By donating gently worn, used and new shoes to the Care to Learn Shoe Drive, the shoes will be given a second chance and make a difference in people’s lives.“We are excited about our shoe drive,” said Tonya McDaniel, high school counselor. “We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets that they aren’t wearing. By donating shoes to us we will help those less fortunate become self-sufficient. It’s a win-win for everyone.”Care to Learn will earn money based on the total weight of the shoes collected. Funds2Orgs will purchase all of the donated footwear. Those dollars will provide relief to Warren Co. R-III students who are experiencing issues with hunger, health or hygiene.Anyone can help by bringing their gently worn, used or new shoes to Warrenton High School, Alpha Academy, Black Hawk Middle School, Daniel Boone Elementary, Rebecca Boone Elementary, Warren County R-III Central Office, Goin Postal, Grace Bible Church, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Warrenton Christian Church, Friedens United Church of Christ or College Methodist Church. All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of partners in developing nations.Funds2Orgs helps impoverished people start, maintain and grow businesses in countries such as Haiti, Honduras and other nations in Central America and Africa.Proceeds from the shoe sales are used to feed, clothe and house their families.Funds2Orgs
