Administrators in the Warren County R-III School District are excited to see progress with its $10 million bond project.Assistant Superintendent Dr. Aaron Jones said projects being funded by the bond issue at each building will be completed at the beginning of the school year. The first day is Thursday, Aug. 17.The only project currently delayed is at Black Hawk Middle School, but accommodations have been made to work around that for student drop-off during the first few weeks of school. However, everything within the building will be completed on time.“With the new entrance at the middle school we’ve had to reorder some of the steel trusses, which has set us back,” said Jones. “Everything inside the building will be ready to go based on our current time line for students.”At the high school, work has been completed on the concrete delivery pad on the southwest corner of the building. In addition, final tests are being run on the new HVAC systems installed. The new HVAC system at Rebecca Boone also is nearing completion, and crews poured concrete sidewalks along the front of the building earlier this week.Work is almost finished on the new security vestibules at Daniel Boone and Warrior Ridge Elementary.Crews also have finished the new drop-off drive at Daniel Boone Elementary. All concrete has now been poured at the district transportation department lot as well and will be ready for use by buses when the school year begins. While it is not scheduled for completion until late October or early November, the new multipurpose gym at the high school is slightly ahead of schedule.“We feel like we’re really in good shape,” said Jones. “As soon as construction crews are out of the building, we will get the district cleaning crews in to wax floors and clean classrooms.”
