The number of people reached by the Warren County R-III School District is growing, much to the delight of Superintendent Dr. Gregg Klinginsmith.
In a report to the district’s school board in July, Klinginsmith extolled the district's ever-growing reach, thanks to its communications efforts.
Klinginsmith said that in terms of Facebook, the district has seen an increase of more than 300 followers in the last year, growing from 6,155 to 6,479.
“We’re seeing an increase in Facebook numbers, which is good,” Klinginsmith said. “They didn’t give us the numbers like they normally do. Last year, we could see if people were picking up on Instagram or are getting older.
“From what I can tell, it looks like it (the district’s Facebook audience) is aging slightly,” Klinginsmith added. “It just seems like there are higher percentages in the older groups than the younger.”
According to information provided by the district, the largest segment of followers falls in the 35-44 age group, accounting for 28.5 percent of total viewership, with a majority of those individuals being women.
“That is our main Facebook group,” Klinginsmith said. “Basically, it’s the moms, which would be to be expected.”
The other top groups of Facebook followers include ages 45-54, at 20.9 percent, and 25-34, at 20 percent.
The main areas where followers reside are Warrenton at 57.5 percent, Wright City at 8.7 percent, and Truesdale at 8.6 percent.
While the district’s accounts on Instagram (839 to 818 followers) and X (1,273 to 1,238 followers) have seen slight drops, two other areas of communication have seen a rather strong increase. The district’s YouTube channel has increased its viewership to 473 from 352 one year ago, while the district delivered board notes to 6,074 emails, up from 5,399 at this point last year.
“We’re picking up followers on our YouTube side,” Klinginsmith said. “We’re just putting a lot more content out there. That’s really been a positive for us, having more live broadcasts and more content.
“Really, direct communication has also been (important),” he continued. “In June, our board notes went out to (more) emails.”
The board unanimously passed a measure on its monthly consent agenda that aligns with the district’s communications.
The Gateway Media Creations contract, which was renewed for the 2026-27 school year, remains unchanged from the past school year.
The contract parameters include a cost of $45,000 plus one-third of all corresponding sales.
