The Warren County R-III School District Care Day Program is available again this year due to the continuation of the four-day school week. The district has received a School Age Community Grant which allows all K-12 students to attend Care Days free of charge until 2023. Care Days are provided on select Mondays throughout the school year at Rebecca Boone Elementary from 7:40 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
This school year, Care Days will be held on Aug. 29; Sep. 19 and 26; Oct. 3, 10, 24 and 31; Nov. 28; Dec. 5 and 12; Jan. 9 and 23; Feb. 6, 13 and 27; March 13 and 27; April 3, 10 and 24; and May 1, 8, 15 and 22.
Door 54 at Rebecca Boone will open at 7:30, with latchkey care available (for a fee) for children needing care before 7:30 or after 3:15. Parents are required to walk students into the building and show ID in order to sign students in and out. Medications must be dropped off by a parent or guardian to the nurse. Breakfast and lunch will be provided at the same rate as the regular school year, and kindergarten students may bring a snack. All students should bring a water bottle, and parents/guardians should pack a change of clothes for students in grades K-4.
Upcoming Care Day activities in August and September include simple machines, force and motion, life cycles, STEM activities, hands-on activities, nutrition lessons, gardening lessons and service learning. Empty 2-liter soda bottles are needed for upcoming Care Day lessons; donations are appreciated.
