Warren County R-III School District has approved switching to a four-day school week beginning with the next school year.The district’s board of education voted in favor of the four-day week schedule at its Jan. 10 public meeting. There will be no school on Mondays, and the remaining school days will be about 30 minutes longer.In a statement issued by the school district, Superintended Dr. Gregg Klinginsmith described the decision as a “bold and courageous move.”“The goal of this is to help with finances, teacher retention and student attendance,” Klinginsmith said. “I am hopeful this new calendar will help us reach our goals.As part of the schedule change, twice-monthly early release days have been eliminated.School board members voted 6-1 to approve the new schedule, with Rodger Tucker the sole dissenting vote.
