Charges have been filed against a Warren County man accused of a rape that allegedly occurred in late 2018.
A warrant has been issued for Chad M. Garland, 22, of Wright City. He is accused of raping a woman at a residence on St. Joseph Avenue in December 2018, according to a report from the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.
The victim of the alleged rape contacted the sheriff’s department in March 2019. She reported that she and Garland were staying in the same home, and that one night she awoke to Garland forcing himself on her.
The woman told deputies that she cried out and attempted to push Garland off, but was not successful.
Investigators contacted Garland for questioning. He allegedly said he was sleeping and woke up in the middle of having intercourse with the woman. Deputies said Garland admitted to continuing to force himself on the woman after he awoke.
