Warren County Health Department hosts adult flu shot clinic Thursday

The Warren County Health Department is hosting a Flu Shot Clinic from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Warren County Health Department office, 101 Mockingbird Lane, Suite 100, in Warrenton.In the United States, the flu virus is at its highest levels from October to May, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).The CDC reports that the best way to reduce the chances of getting the flu and reducing the spread of the flu is for the most people to be vaccinated.While the flu can make healthy people very sick, older adults seem to be hit the hardest. During recent flu seasons, the CDC reports, between 80 and 90 percent of flu-related deaths have occurred in people 65 years and older.The Warren County Health Department is offering a high-dose vaccine for people 65 and older. The cost is free if Medicare Part B is a client’s primary health insurance. Provider ID cards are required.The health department is unable to bill private or supplemental health insurance. The out-of-pocket cost is $25. There is an additional $2 processing fee for credit or debit cards payments.
