Warren County fall sports are back

Posted

As summer break nears its inevitable end, it may seem like the end of the world having to return to school. However, the unavoidable homework assignments and tests are overshadowed by the excitement of fall sports returning.

High school athletes prepared throughout the offseason by getting their sports physicals done, picking up their tryout cards, attending their respective sports camps and practices, and working on their craft in their own time.

However, athletes are not the only ones excited to ramp up the fall season, so are parents, friends and community supporters.

Fall practices officially started Monday, Aug. 12, and fall programs at both Warrenton and Wright City high schools are anxiously waiting for what’s to come.

The Warrenton High School band and cheer team kicked off back-to-school week showcasing their talent to supporters in the crowd. Quickly after, fall sports attended their first day of tryouts and practices.

Wright City also kicked off its first day of practices and tryouts with football, volleyball, softball, cross country, girls golf and cheerleading all back in action.

Jamborees will be in operation the week of Aug. 19, with Wright City soccer and football on Aug. 23 and Warrenton soccer, softball and football will play in their respective jamborees on Aug. 23.

Wright City volleyball and softball will follow the next week to play in their jamborees on Aug. 27. Warrenton’s softball jamboree will be played on Aug. 28.

The first official games for both schools will be played on Aug. 30. Warren County rivals Wright City and Warrenton will play each other in football for a classic Friday night game on Aug. 30.

In addition, Warrenton softball, volleyball, golf and boys soccer will start their season on Aug. 30, as well as Wright City girls golf.
