Voter registration deadline approaches

Warren County voters have less than a week left to register to vote in an Aug. 3 special election regarding a proposed tax increase for the Warrenton Fire Protection District. The deadline to register to vote is July 7.

Warren County residents can register to vote at the office of the county clerk in the Warren County Administration Building, 101 Mockingbird Lane in Warrenton. The clerk's office is located in suite 302, and is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Registered voters who have changed their address must update their registration in order to vote. Information on voter registration can be obtained by calling the county clerk's office at 636-456-3331.

The clerk's office is also reminding voters that they must present a valid form of identification in order to fill out a ballot. Anyone who does not have a photo ID can contact the Missouri Secretary of State's Office for help obtaining a free ID. Absentee voting

Absentee ballots are now available to participate in the August election. Absentee ballots may be cast in the county clerk's office, located in the Warren County Administration Building, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The clerk's office will also be open for voting on Saturday, July 31, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Registered voters may cast an absentee ballot if they aren't able to vote on Election Day due to the following reasons:

  • Absense from the county
  • Illness or physical disability
  • Caretakers of those incapacitated or confied due to illness or disability
  • Religious belief or practice
  • Employment as an election authority
  • Incarceration
  • Address confidentiality

Absentee ballots can also be mailed if requested on or before July 21. Requests for absentee ballots must be submitted in writing and signed, and must include the voter's name, address of registration, reason for requesting an absentee ballot, and the address to which the ballot should be mailed.

Those registering to vote by mail for the first time must also include a photocopy of a valid photo ID (driver's license, non-driver state ID, passport, or military ID).
