Elections for local government seats, tax proposals and other ballot issues will be held April 3 throughout Warren County.Below are the elections that will appear on ballots based on location, along with a brief explanation of candidates or issues.At the end of this article is the list of polling places that Warren County residents will go to vote.All county residents• Prop P — Every resident of Warren County, including those who live within a city or village, will be asked to vote on Prop P, a proposed sales tax to support the county sheriff’s department and jail.Prop P would add a one-half cent sales tax. Proponents say the funding would be used to increase the relatively low wages of deputies and jail staff, as well as hire more officers for both services.City of Warrenton• Alderman, Ward 1, two-year term — Incumbent Mike Shilharvey is challenged by resident Tom Boos.Three other board of aldermen seats will appear on the ballot, but none are contested.City of Wright CityVoters within the city limits of Wright City should remember to check the back of their ballots. See also Wright City Fire Protection District below.• Prop U — Residents within the city limits of Wright City must decide if the city will be allowed to sell its water supply system and wastewater sewer system. The utilities would be sold to Public Water Supply District No. 2 of St. Charles County for $10.5 million.• Mayor — Mayor Dan Rowden is being challenged by Jim Logan.• Alderman, Ward 1, one-year term — Incumbent Kerry Lambright is running against Dwayne Paul.• Alderman, Ward 2, two-year term — Current Alderman Tom Dixon is in a race against former Ward 2 Alderman James Toothman.Alderman John O’Connor is unopposed for reelection to keep his Ward 1 alderman seat for another two years.Wright City Fire Protection DistrictThe fire district is a separate political entity from the city of Wright City, and covers a much larger area of eastern Warren County. City residents will also vote in these elections.• Prop S — Voters throughout eastern Warren County will be asked to approve two ballot measures from Wright City Fire Protection District.The first is Prop S, a property tax increase of 34 cents per $100 assessed valuation. The tax will be used to maintain the jobs of six firefighters currently hired on a federal grant. It could also be used for other operational purposes.• Prop C — The second ballot proposal for voters in the fire district is a $7 million bond issue that would be used to build a new fire station and replace aging fire vehicles and equipment.Approving Prop C would give the fire district authorization to levy an additional tax to pay off the bonds. The current estimate for the tax is 20 to 25 cents per $100 assessed valuation.• Board of directors, four-year term — Phil Keim and Christopher Kellner are competing for the seat vacated by Robert Grah.City of Marthasville• Alderman, East Ward, two-year term — Incumbent Nicholas Lange will be the only candidate to appear on the ballot; however, Keith Theissen is also running for election as a write-in candidate. Voters who want to vote for Theissen must write his name in the space provided on the ballot.• Alderman, Southwest Ward, two-year term — Incumbent Christopher DeVore is being challenged by former police chief Eugene Jenkins.Marthasville Community Ambulance DistrictThis ambulance district serves most of southern Warren County south of Highway CC.• Prop E — The ambulance district is asking voters to vote yes or no on a property tax increase of 10 cents per $100 assessed valuation. The additional funding would be used to replace or upgrade its two ambulances, replace other aging equipment, and fund daily operations.City of Foristell• Alderman, Ward Two, two-year term — William Huth will be the only name on the ballot, but Tim Banze has entered the race as a write-in candidate. Voters who want to vote for Banze must write his name in the space provided on the ballot.Polling placesBelow are the polling places where Warren County residents will go to vote. Some residential areas will share a polling place.Concord Hill/Hopewell — American Legion Hall, South Highway 47;Dutzow — Marthasville Fire Station No. 3 in Dutzow;North Elkhorn — Lions Club building at Warrenton fairgrounds;South Elkhorn/Macedonia — St. John’s Lutheran Church, South Highway 47;Gore-Case — Gore-Case Community Building;Hickory Grove North/South — Wright City Lions Club building;Holstein/Smith Creek — Immanuel United Church of Christ basement;Innsbrook — Innsbrook Village Hall;Lake Sherwood — Lake Sherwood Community Center;Lake View Estates — Clubhouse facility at Lake View Mobile Home Park;Marthasville East Ward/Southwest Ward — Marthasville City Hall;Pendleton — Warrenton Fire District Station No. 3 in Pendleton;Truesdale — Truesdale City Hall;Walnut Grove — Oak Grove Baptist Church;Warrenton Ward 1 — Warrenton Baptist Church;Warrenton Ward 2 — Friedens United Church of Christ basement;Warrenton Ward 3 — College Methodist Church educational building;Weeks — Central Grove Methodist Church;Wright City Ward 1 — Immanuel United Church of Christ educational building;Wright City Ward 2 — First Baptist Church fellowship room.Voter ID
