Warrenton wrestler Alison Vacek had a big, but quick, night on Friday.

Not only did she sweep her three matches to win the 170-pound weight class at the Fort Zumwalt North Invitational, but she also did so in a grand total of 81 seconds.

Vacek, the top seed in her weight class, pinned St. Charles’ Sheyanne in 53 seconds, Ozark’s Kirsten Abeya in 15 seconds, and then capped the night off by winning the championship with a 13-second pinfall of Timberland’s Madison Glore.

The night also achieved a milestone for Vacek as it included her 100th career win.

Vacek wasn’t the only big winner for Warrenton Friday. Dakota Lohrmann also rolled to the title at 135. Lohrmann, the No. 4 seed in the weight class, won by fall in her first three matches.

She defeated Battle’s Kaydence McCay in 1:30, Ozark’s Stella Wheeler in 5:12 and Rolla’s Kylie Hawkins, the overall top seed in the class, in 5:20.

She finished the night off by winning a 3-1 decision over Howell Central’s Kaitlyn Sparkman.

An impressive night was also turned in by Melanie Gurrero, who took second at 120 as the No. 6 seed in that weight class.

She beat Lutheran St. Charles’ Isabella Byrd in 41 seconds, Ozark’s Katie Hartgraves in 3:16 and St. Charles’ Brooklyn Elliott by a 6-2 decision. She fell in the final to the top seed, Zumwalt South’s Jena Gumahlin, by technical fall in 2:33.

Warrenton coach Clayton Olsson praised his team for taking sixth in a tough tournament by amassing 122 points.

“(We did it) with only seven wrestlers,” Olsson said. “(To top it off), Alison got her 100th.”

WARRENTON BOYS FALL AT SULLIVAN – The Warrenton boys basketball team had a strong start to its third-place game in the FCNB Bank-It Championship at Sullivan but that fell off in a 55-40 loss to Salem.

After trailing just 16-15 after the first quarter and 23-22 at half, Warrenton (1-2) struggled in the second half.

Salem (3-1) outscored the Warriors 32-18 in the second half to pull away.

Warrenton was led by 18 points from Deadrick Forrest, while Brodey Meyer added 11.

WRIGHT CITY GIRLS FALL TO SOUTH CALLAWAY – A 31-point second half wasn’t enough to allow the Wright City girls to claw back, in falling 54-45 to South Callaway at home on Friday.

The Wildcats (0-2) trailed 33-14 by intermission and outscored the Lady Bulldogs in the final 16 minutes by a 31-21 margin.

Wright City may have left the game on the line, literally. The team went to the free-throw line for 33 shots, making 17 of those.

Olivia Wilson led three Wildcats in double figures with 15 points while Ada Farrell added 14 and Shiriah McRoberts pitched in 12.
