The Warren County Health Department says it has finished vaccinating all of the people who had pre-registered for COVID-19 vaccines, and began taking week-of sign ups, starting with its most recent vaccination clinic on April 20.
Anyone age 18 and older can now sign up to be vaccinated at the county health department, which holds appointment-based clinics every Tuesday. This week several appointment slots were open up until the day before the clinic, according to announcements from the health department.
Warren County receives weekly shipments of the Moderna vaccine. Appointments do not require an ID or insurance card, and the vaccination is free.
To sign up for a vaccination with the health department, call 636-456-7474.
Compass Health Network is also hosting appointment-based vaccination clinics in the various communities it serves. Announcements of the clinics and registration links are posted periodically on Compass’ Facebook page, facebook.com/CompassHealthNetwork.
In Warrenton and Wright City, Legacy Drugstore has been providing daily appointments for vaccinations. Patients can register for open appointment times online at www.legacydrug.com.
Warren County Health Department data showed about 100 active cases of COVID-19 in the county at the beginning of this week. Thirty deaths have been reported in connection to the virus.
Statewide, the Department of Health and Senior Services reports that over one-third of Missouri residents have now received at least one dose of vaccine.
“This milestone is great news for the people of Missouri, and we will continue working hard to keep this momentum. The vaccine is safe and effective, and we encourage all eligible Missourians who have not yet received it to consider getting vaccinated,” Gov. Mike Parson said last Friday.
About 2.1 million Missourians have initiated vaccination, and about 1.4 million are fully vaccinated, the state said. Vaccination rates are heavily skewed toward older residents who were eligible sooner, with the state estimating that up to three-fourths of people 65 and older have initiated vaccination.
Missouri lags behind the national average for vaccinations. The CDC reports that about 40 percent of people have been vaccinated nationwide.
