Several roads have been reopened following an ammonia leak that was the result of an accident that occurred at the 193-mile marker on Interstate 70 at 10:04 am. on Sunday. The westbound lanes, along with one eastbound lane and the overpass connecting the southern and northern portions of Warrenton, have been reopened.Officials said two tanks containing 1,000 pounds of anhydrous ammonia each exited the back of a pickup truck that was traveling eastbound.Crews allowed each tank to leak out and dissipated the vapors with water, while a dam was set up to corral the run off.In the meantime, both eastbound and westbound lanes of I-70, along with the Highway 47 overpass that connects the southern and northern portions of Warrenton, were closed for approximately five hours.Business within close proximity of the scene, including those along Highway 47 between the north and south service roads, were also evacuated.CREWS REMOVE AMMONIA TANKDerrick Forsythe photo.
