A Warren County man is in custody and charged with murder after the fatal beating of his brother Jan. 21 at their home in Warren County.Scott Van Dillen, 53, is charged with second-degree murder, and has a $250,000, cash-only bond.The day of the killing, emergency responders were called to a home on Baumann Lane around 10:15 p.m. to aid an “unconscious person,” according to an arrest report. The home is just south of Reifsnider State Park, off of Schuetzenground Road.When a Warren County sheriff’s deputy arrived, he found a victim identified as Timothy Van Dillen, 59, with blood pooling around the right side of his head.Lt. Kevin Talir said the victim was deceased when the responding deputy arrived.An autopsy revealed Timothy Van Dillen had suffered 11 blows to his body, including one to the right side of his head, according to the arrest report. He suffered a fractured skull and massive brain bleed, which was identified as the cause of death.Deputies arrested the victim’s brother, Scott Van Dillen, who they said was found at the home with blood on his boots. Scott admitted to kicking his brother multiple times in the head, authorities said.Talir said another family member at the home was the one who called 911. Beyond that, he said the sheriff’s department doesn’t yet know the full details of what happened.Court records identify the location of the alleged murder as Scott Van Dillen’s residence, where the sheriff’s department said the brothers were living together.Scott Van Dillen has an arraignment scheduled for Feb. 13 in Warren County Circuit Court. He is being represented by the Missouri State Public Defender's Office.
