Voters in the Warren County R-III School District delivered another rejection Tuesday to a tax proposal aimed at raising staff salaries.
The district had asked voters to consider Proposition W, an additional tax of 39 cents per $100 of assessed property valuation, which would have benefited teachers and support staff. Voters came out with 918 in favor of Prop W, about 45 percent of the total, with 1,137 voting against.
In the city of Truesdale, residents voted in favor of a half-cent sales tax that will fund street and transportation projects in the city. Officials estimate the tax will generate more than $60,000 per year.
Out of 94 voters in Truesdale, 65 voted in favor of the sales tax, with 29 voting against.
Voting totals are not considered final until the Warren County Clerk’s Office certifies the count later this week.
