Unique Boutique now open inside Sharper Image salon

By Jeremy RobertsonRecord Staff WriterA trip to California for Robin Meier and Christy Ritter, co-owners of Unique Boutique, was a worthwhile adventure. They went to a convention for the LuLaRoe clothing line and brought back a lot of ideas to share with shoppers.Meier has owned Sharper Image for several years, but at the end of 2014 decided to utilize some space in her salon for a new venture. In February, Meier and Ritter opened up the Unique Boutique inside the salon, located at 801 E. Veterans Memorial Parkway in Warrenton. The partners set aside a corner of the business for displaying the merchandise they offer. Along with the LuLaRoe line, they offer private labels as well.Several of their items are handcrafted by local community members. One of the things the pair took away from the California convention was a need for an online presence. They have a VIP group on Facebook from which members can shop the latest styles and prints. The shopping options that they are offering are not their biggest draw, though. Their clients can have what Meier and Ritter call a “pop-up boutique.”These events can be held in clients’ homes or in the salon during the evening. Clients are urged to share the deals with friends and family. The rewards for doing so include free clothes or a discounted rate for purchases.Meier says her boutique offers “good price points for our area … and you’re not going to be running around in the same skirt as I am.”A lot of the clothing can be used in multiple ways to change an outfit.“It’s about versatility,” she said.In order to support local teachers, Unique Boutique will hold an event in September. They are offering 10 percent off purchases by teachers who host a “pop-up boutique” during the month. Also for the month of September, they will donate a percentage of proceeds to Rebecca Boone Elementary School. The partners are looking forward to expanding their product lines.“We’re going to start offering children’s and athletic clothing,” Meier said. For more information, call 636-456-9500 or search Unique Boutique on Facebook.
