The Missouri Department of Labor is accusing a Warren County man of illegally receiving unemployment benefits for more than a year, leading to a felony charge.Falsely claiming to be unemployed in order to receive unemployment insurance benefits from the state is considered receiving stolen property, a Class C felony.In a report seeking charges from the Warren County Circuit Court, an investigator with the department stated Robert M. Bax, 30, filed for unemployment benefits in March 2015. He continued to make unemployment claims until April 2016, according to the report.To receive unemployment benefits, Bax stated that he was unemployed, actively seeking work and had no earnings. However, an investigator identified a local employer that reported having Bax on its payroll for that same time period.Bax received $3,233 in overpaid unemployment benefits, according to the report. He allegedly admitted to an investigator on Dec. 21, 2017, that he filed a series of falsified unemployment claims.Crime
